Too good to be true?

In recent months we’ve become increasingly concerned by reports from our customers that they’re being offered deals by competitors that sound too good to be true.  We’ve seen a number of emails offering data SIM cards and SIP trunks at crazy prices – that can’t possibly leave the supplier with any possibility of breaking even, let alone making any money from the offer.

You might ask why we’re concerned?  Well if we’re honest, it’s not for our competitors, we’re genuinely concerned for our customers or colleagues in the taxi industry that get taken in by these offers – and then find themselves in a mess a little while down the line.

It’s no coincidence that some of the companies making these offers have been subject to CCJs and ‘winding-up’ orders.  If you can’t make money or break even from the products you’re selling, sooner or later you’re probably going to get into financial trouble and that’s where the crunch comes in for our customers.  We’re aware of lots of customers who have been paying for a service, only to find the service stops suddenly because the supplier wasn’t paying their bills.  Even worse, we’ve heard stories from customers who have been caught out by deals that involve up-front payment – only to find that the supplier goes bust and they’ve thrown a large chunk of their money away.

We’re not afraid of healthy competition.  We believe that we provide great value for money data SIMs, phones, SIP trunks, broadband, phone systems and more – but it seems strange that some of our competitors are prepared to commit financial suicide to win business.  It’s not good for them and it’s not good for their customers.

We promise that we’ll continue to charge fair prices for our services – so that you have a partner you can rely on.  In the meantime, if you get an offer from one of our competitors that sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
